Emissions tracking made easy
Calculate, track, and report methane emissions and emissions intensity

What is MethOp?

MethOp is a cross-platform online application developed by RCP to assist pipeline operators in their methane footprint reduction efforts. MethOp enables companies to securely store asset data, calculate methane emissions and emissions intensity, and track key emissions trends.

All Your Data in One Place

Say goodbye to paper forms. MethOp is available on PC as well as Android and Apple mobile devices. Field professionals can easily fill out custom forms on their work phones or tablets. The data will be transmitted and stored in our secure cloud database, available for review immediately. MethOp’s data upload function also allows you to import large amounts of historical data into your database.

Save Hundreds of Hours on Preparing Emissions Reports

Our application auto-calculates methane emissions for all assets based on guidelines from the NGSI protocol and federal regulations (40 CFR 98). MethOp users have access to advanced data analytics and are able to create customized charts and reports according to their organization’s needs.

As easy as 1, 2, 3

It might only be a matter of time before the EPA or PHMSA extends greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting requirements to the transmission and storage segments. We are here to help you navigate the complex reporting rules and stay ahead of the competition.

Staying Ahead of the Competition

Mandatory emissions reporting is on the horizon.

On November 2, 2021, the EPA published their Proposed Rule for new performance standards and emissions guidelines to reduce methane and other harmful pollution from the oil and natural gas industry.

This proposed rule will affect natural gas production, processing, transmission, and storage facilities. While greenhouse gas reporting requirements have not been extended to the transmission and storage segments, we believe it is only a matter of time given the current regulatory climate.

Compliance with code and industry guidelines

The American Gas Association (AGA) collaborated the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) to create the Natural Gas Sustainability Initiative (NGSI). The NGSI published version 1.0 of its methane emissions intensity calculation protocol on February 1, 2021.  The NGSI protocol contains guidelines for companies to calculate their methane emissions based on EPA calculation requirements in 40 CFR 98.  The protocol promotes consistent reporting of methane emissions intensity using the EEI-AGA ESG Reporting Template as well as on company-specific sustainability webpages.  The MethOp® program is based on the NGSI protocol – but is much more sophisticated and user-friendly than a jumble of spreadsheets.  With MethOp®, companies can quickly and efficiently calculate and report their methane emissions intensity across thousands of individual facilities and components, year after year, supported by time-stamped documentation of every assumption and input value.

The EPA and PHMSA are often known for incorporating by reference. If/when these regulator bodies extend reporting requirements for all segments of the natural gas supply chain, it is likely the NGSI protocol will become the standard.
